The patented IS-IBC1® non-contact Internal Bubble Cooling (IBC) technology provides the best possible blown film bubble control at the highest possible air exchange rates. The IS-IBC1 control system can improve production rates 25-40% when going from non-IBC to IBC applications, and 8-15% over competing IBC systems.

The system provides significant improvement over mechanical arm and other ultrasonic control systems. The IS-IBC1® system has the capability to provide +/- 1/8" (3mm) total layflat variation. The system can be easily retrofitted to any blown film die that is drilled for IBC or replace any existing IBC system. Remote Diagnostics is provided standard on all IS-IBC1® systems. The non-contact design allows the ability to run very soft and thin film applications regardless of film color.

Internal Bubble Cooling System










  • Basic IS-IBC1® Internal Bubble Cooling system.
  • Standard with single digital temperature compensated ultrasonic sensor and patented bladder valve.
  • Includes electronic adjustment of film contact with the sizing cage making it easy for user to eliminate potential cage marks in the film.
  • Includes internal technician's interface for setup and troubleshooting.
  • Bubble break detector and process alarm both provide a user configurable output that can be connected to a customer supplied audible or visual alarm device.
  • Remote diagnostic interface allows near-instant technical support.
Multiple Sensors





  • Ability to add from 1-3 additional sensors to work in conjunction with the main IS-IBC1 sensor.
  • Multiple Sensors are recommended for bubbles with layflat ranges larger than 100", applications with rotating dies, or application where the bubble is not supported by the cage.

Automatic Blower Balance







  • Adds ability to automatically balance blowers.
  • Operators adjust the air exchange rate by adjusting a single control.
  • System automatically coordinates the inlet and outlet blower when the operator changes the air exchange rate.
  • System also allows operator to have manual control over the blowers.
  • Requires digital variable speed drives that control the inlet and outlet blowers.

Color Touch Screen









  • Full color 6" TFT color touch screen provides an easy to use method for controlling the IBC system.
  • Replaces standard internal technician's interface.
  • Five built-in languages: English, French, German, Italian and Spanish
  • Color trends show operations of the process, layflat deviation, inputs and outputs.
  • Online tutors eliminate confusion when initiating seldom-used functions.
  • System fault and ultrasonic sensor alert system routes technician to proper diagnostic screens for quick problem solving.
  • Password protect maintenance access allow setup and calibration functions.
Layflat Controller











  • Requires the color touch screen.
  • Provides layflat feedback calculated from bubble diameter as measured by two ultrasonic sensors mounted in fixed positions on the top portion of the sizing cage.
  • The system provides a near instant readout of the actual layflat eliminating the need to wait for the film to reach the winder.
  • One step compensation for film shrinkage after measuring point.
  • Improved long term layflat stability by constantly checking layflat against the target value and making subtle adjustments.
  • Layflat Controller also provides a user configurable layflat deviation alarm output that can be connected to a customer supplied audible or visual alarm device (this replaces the standard process alarm).
Automatic Cage Controller










  • Requires purchase of Layflat Controller and a motorized sizing cage.
  • The user enters the desired layflat and the system automatically manages the cage diameter to provide the correct layflat with the desired film to cage contact pressure.
  • Allows operator to proceed with other setup issues while the IS-IBC1 system automatically sizes the bubble.
  • Size changes are managed to eliminate bubble instabilities.
  • System maintains correct positioning by continually monitoring bubble size and cage position.
  • Cage controls can optionally be provided in the main IBC panel to keep all bubble size controls in one location.
