AUTOMATED AIR RING

The patent pending Saturn Genie™, Future Design's first automated blown film air ring, is a culmination of the latest innovations to measure, adjust and record air ring settings. This feature is available on new Saturn air rings or as an upgrade to existing Saturn air rings. The Saturn Air Ring has established the highest performance in polymer cooling. This new feature will allow film operators complete control of the cooling function of the air ring. Linear actuators measure and adjust the position of the air ring settings, which can be stored in recipe format, ensuring future referrals and repeatable performance. The user friendly Saturn Genie™ measures and adjusts the upper lip, forming cone, bubble cone and bubble gate to allow the operator the ability to resume normal production in efficient time and ensuring reproduction of operating conditions for a wide variety of products.

Saturn 2000 Genie Model S2E2000G (Phase II)

The Phase II Model sets the foundation for the complete technology of Saturn air ring automation. The Genie can supply specific signals for manipulation of all adjustable components. The Phase II Model carries the ability to be upgraded to a Phase III and/or Phase IV Model in the future by modification of the control system.

Features of the Saturn Genie Phase II:

Ramp and Cam Movement: The precise position of each individual component has been calculated for the shortest movement and reliable accuracy.

Linear Actuator Motor Drivers: These actuators are self-contained with independent motors, drivers, optical or analogue feedback and position lock for when desired result is achieved. Includes 12V and 24V DC on all actuators with built in adjustable end stroke limit switches, speed is regulated for 0.1 inch per second for the upper lip and bubble cone to ensure accurate movement. Up to 500 pound thrust and +/- 0.005 inch repeatability can be achieved.

Independent Display: The signal from the actuators' sensors will be displayed on a control panel that will indicate the exact positioning of each air ring component to achieve optimum repeatability and running condition retrieval.

Electrical/Mechanical Design: The electrical/mechanical design is the result of proven technology after years of testing and field data compilation and with many incorporated enhancements.

Remote Station: As each actuator and display are independent, the manipulation of the settings to develop a combination for the best possible conditions will be integrated into a single enclosure, allowing the operator to determine the settings with a single glance.

The air ring comes complete with a standard 10-foot cable that is attached to the remote station using industrial quick disconnects. The location and mounting of the remote station will be the responsibility of the customer.

Electrical Supply: Standard electrical supply is 110V, single phase, 12amp, 60hz. Specifications for the supply of power to and from the Genie will be the responsibility of the customer and must be specified before ordering.

Options for Saturn Genie Phase II:

Digital pressure gauge for air ring chamber complete in a localized box for signal feed back.
Digital temperature gauge for air ring chamber and signal feed back.
Relative room humidity with probes located in proximity to the inlet of the blower with local termination for signal feed back.
Ambient room temperature with probe located in an area that would reflect the typical temperature of the factory also with local termination for signal feed back.
Air Ring Elevator (option) positional feed back signal to a localized box for signal feed back.
Blower Control (A/C frequency controlled) can be quoted separately upon request, based on existing blower specifications.

Saturn 2000 Genie Model S2ED2000G (Phase III)

This most popular model includes all the attributes of Phase II and adds sophistication with its own state of the art panel with PLC and touchscreen control, display, readouts and key lock entry. Also includes monitoring of ambient temperature, relative humidity, air ring pressure and air ring temperature in the display mode. Printers may be added to print out any relative information as this environment allows printers to be attached to capture real time reports. The Phase II Genie has the ability to be upgraded to the Phase III Model, as the Phase III also has the ability to be upgraded in the future to a Phase IV Model. Phase III incorporates sophisticated PLC control technology and can communicate and receive signals from external control systems.

Features of the Saturn Genie Phase III:

Computer Interphase: The system has been designed to incorporate future expansion to any degree the customer requires. With the full understanding of existing computer technology and the cooperation with any OEM, the Genie can become an extension of current and future technology. This will allow programs to be downloaded for future recipe saving and retrieval.

PLC Control: Industrial PLC controller with Touchscreen Interphase to control all actuator positions and each of the following features.

Digital Pressure Gauge: The digital pressure gauge for the air ring chamber monitors air ring pressure with signal feed back to the control panel.

Digital Temperature Gauge: The digital temperature gauge monitors air ring temperature with signal feed back to the control panel.

Humidity Probe: Relative room humidity with probe located in proximity to the inlet of the blower with local termination for signal feedback to the control panel. Standard 20 feet of cabling included.

Temperature Probe: Ambient room temperature with probe located in an area that would reflect the typical temperature of the environment also with local termination for signal feed back.

Elevator Control: Air Ring Elevator (option) control of elevator positioning with feed back signal to the control panel.
