Feed Screws

Future Design’s High Performance Feed Screws are custom designed around the individual resin’s melting behavior using the latest screw design software available. This increases the feed screw’s output rate and eliminates the possibility of over-shearing.

Features

Performance Parameters:alt

  • Lower melt temperature reduces melt cooling requirements
  • Less cooling means higher line speeds
  • Lower axial pressure improves life of feed screw and increases output
  • Excellent melt quality and mixing at high output rates
  • Melt temperature difference across the exiting extruder melt stream is 5 - 7° F
  • Improved mixing/melt homogenization
  • New screws are covered by a one year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship

Standard Feed Screw Construction Features:

  • Chrome plating in root
  • Wear resistant full flight width Colmonoy 56, 83, X830, or UCAR
  • Spiral or straight Maddock mixing section for dispersive mixing
  • Pineapple, Saxton, or pin mixing section for distributive mixing
  • Highly polished streamlined surfaces
  • High quality materials and construction (manufactured from aircraft quality 4140, 4340, stainless steel or Duranickel)

Standard Barrel Construction Features:alt

  • Bimetallic construction
  • Guaranteed straightness of 1 in 20,000
  • 58-64 Rockwell C
  • Finish to within 8-12 micro-inches
  • Enhanced abrasion and corrosion resistance
