JULY 2002
VOLUME 2 - ISSUE 2
On June 4th, Future Design sponsored and hosted a Technical Symposium at our new facilities in Mississauga, Canada. Our theme of "Welcome To The Future" opened the door to the topics of our team of guest speakers who covered a wide range of subject matter relative to the blown film industry and bubble management tactics.
Our guests came from all over North America including New York, Texas, Ohio, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Alberta, British Columbia, Quebec and Ontario. We were also very pleased to have our Future Design Inc. representative from Germany with us as a guest speaker on this day.

We began early in the morning with a tour of our new building, a demonstration of our laboratory blown film system running, and a glance at an assortment of our equipment, including a Saturn VII air ring manufactured by Future Design to retrofit an 80-inch die diameter. We also displayed our Saturn Nano air ring to retrofit a 1-inch die diameter, mounted on a frame with our patented Bubble Glide film tracking system, a complete Corona Treatment Station and a team of Saturn air rings.
The speeches began at 10:00 AM with Lyle Hoegy, VP Sales & Marketing for Future Design opening the floor for the guest speakers. Speakers appeared in this order:
Highlights for the day included Future Design being awarded honors by the Brampton Board of Trade for our relocation, and major announcements which were made in regards to new ventures for Future Design Inc. including the following:
Future Design announces exclusive representation for Killion laboratory and narrow web extrusion systems in Canada for Crompton Davis Standard Corporation.
Future Design announces a new venture with major US resin compounder to supply Calcium Carbonate masterbatches to Canadian film manufacturers under the name "Saturn Polymers Inc."

I am pleased to report the success of the Symposium hosted by Future Design at our new facilities in Mississauga (Toronto) Canada this month. Contributing to that success were eight of the most informative people in the blown film industry who talked about the past, present and the future of our industry. Attendance boasted 54 companies and 82 guests for this one-day technical seminar. The comments from all who attended were most favourable which leads Future Design to consider more conferences for the future in other parts of the United States and Canada. New blown film speakers will be added to our guest list. We are currently coordinating this venture and if you might consider attending another symposium central to you, please contact Brandy Appleby at (905)361-9978 ext. 32.
The new Saturn GENIE Automated Air Ring System is now being beta tested and we will keep you updated with the latest results. We are continuing to speak with customers about how this will improve their bottom line as a tool to obtain repeatable settings, recipe retreival, programmable setups and film perfection.
Future Design is also pleased to let the world know we have now added to our patent list, the Saturn Chamber Design. This unique design has proven to be the foundation for the Saturn Air Ring Rebuilding Program (SHARRP), It is the only program in the world where you can trade in your older Saturn air ring for the newest design.
We look forward to the future and to our new exclusive representation to provide Killion laboratory and narrow web systems in Canada for Crompton Davis Standard Corporation. Also the new establishment of "Saturn Polymers Inc." a division of Future Design Inc. providing Calcium Carbonate masterbatch to film manufacturers in Canada. We look forward to working with you in the future to supply all your needs.
"Welcome to the Future!"
Robert Krycki - President / CEO
Future Design has been granted, by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, a design patent for our Saturn air ring chamber. This design is implemented on all models of Saturn air rings to retrofit annular dies up 44 inches (1,118mm) in diameter. This patent encompasses the streamlined bottom entry ports unique to the Saturn air ring.

The aerodynamic design, in combination with Future Design's air distribution manifolds constructed from rigid ABS, ensures uniform distribution of low-pressure air around the extrudate. This feature delivers uniform air so that blown film extrusion systems can produce flexible, flat and uniform substrates to the packaging industry. The same patented design is used in LDPE film extrusion, HMW-HDPE film extrusion, foamed polyethylene, foamed polystyrene and flexible PVC blown film applications. (Since 1978)
